Stronger.

As I pack my things for my Christmas trip home to Minnesota to visit my wonderful family and friends, I can’t help but pause and be thankful for everything I have been given.  Among those blessings, I count Detroit and my Teach for America experience.  I no way do I doubt that these last 18 months have made me stronger in many ways.  In 18 short months, so much about me, my beliefs, and my lifestyle has changed.  Maybe it’s because I’m getting   Ior because my experience, but I am more thankful than ever before for the amazing people God has blessed me with.  Whether it is my wonderful family and friends back in Minnesota or my inspiring friends, colleagues, and students here in Detroit, each and every person has helped me become to person I am today, and I am so very thankful for that.
The last couple of weeks…

Blessed.

As the holiday season quickly approaches, I often remember how very blessed I am; I’m so very thankful that I’ve been placed right here, right now.  Often times, as I drive to work in the morning, I see the Detroit skyline peeking out as the sun rises shortly before 7am – it is in this…

INK!

I got a tattoo!  Yep, I actually did it and now Detroit is a permanent part of me.  I’ve wanted a tattoo for several years, but I could never really decide what I wanted or where I wanted it, but one day over winter break, I broke down and got a tattoo.  There may have…

Blessings!

Each and every single day, I am reminded of how very blessed I am.  Often times, on my drive into the city each morning, I think of how very lucky I am to have started my teaching career at Crockett Tech High School.  I absolutely love teaching - I love teaching math, I love teaching high…
