It’s a Trip!

A birthday is the 1st day of another 365 day journey around the sun.  Enjoy the trip!

As I look back on the past year of my life – #22 – I again realize I am blessed.  At this rate, #23 is going to be pretty great.  Yes, it’s been quite some time since my last update – I always think about updating, but then grading, another lesson plan, or a Crockett sporting event seems to get in the way.

Yes, I am now another year older…and I would like to think SO much wiser.  On my birthday, my 1st period Geometry “babies” threw me a birthday party…it was the most precious thing ever!  My kids still rock…most days!  They never cease to challenge or amaze me, and I think that some days I learn more than they do.  Second semester has started and things seem to finally be calming down.  We’re all getting back into the “normal” routine again – although I’m not sure you can consider any day at DPS high school normal.

My trip home for Christmas was wonderful.  I loved spending two weeks doing almost nothing productive, except seeing many of my friends and family members.  Going home is wonderful, but it can be very challenging at times too.  Life in rural Minnesota moves at a much slower pace than Detroit, MI.  Also, I think that after an experience such as this, you are a somewhat changed person and it makes you realize how lucky you are.  Again, I encourage each and every person to visit Detroit sometime – this city amazes me.

One of the greatest parts of year #22 was the wonderful friends I’ve made on this journey.  We’re with each other each step of the way and I’m not sure I would love life in Michigan as much as I do without them.  We’re all taking this “trip” together – sometimes we love it and at other times, we hate, but we always get through.  They’re amazing people and I can’t wait for all of my friends and family back in Minnesota to meet them.

I’ve booked my flight home for Easter in April…I’ll be home for a week!

And last, but certainly not least…there was a meeting for football players at Crockett today – does that mean football season is getting closer!?!?
